Meningococcal Vaccine

Meningococcal vaccines protect against invasive meningococcal disease (IMD).

Keeping up to date with recommended vaccines is the best protection against invasive meningococcal disease (IMD).

Current Recommendations (Toronto Public Health)

Adults between 18 and 36 years old who have not received a meningococcal vaccine are eligible for a publicly funded vaccine. We recommend you book an appointment with our nursing team to receive a meningococcal vaccine as soon as possible.

Children:

Parents, guardians and caregivers should ensure children are vaccinated against IMD.

This vaccine is usually given to infants at 12 months of age. If you are unsure if your child was vaccinated please book an appointment with our nursing team.

Older children and teens typically get this vaccine in grade 7 during a school vaccination event. This vaccine is required under Ontario’s Immunization of School Pupils Act (ISPA). If your child missed this vaccine in school they can book an appointment to update their vaccine at TPHbookings.ca
